Holy Spirit Conviction

People fill churches every service, volunteer for programs, involve themselves in ministerial aspects of church life and many may have never experienced a new birth in Christ. My goal is not to tear down anyone or make them feel bad about church attendance or church work, but it is to help them take an honest look at themselves through the eyes of scripture. All your ministry labors are no good if you do not belong to Christ, if you have never received His salvation. If you have been saved then you are not the same! A change takes place in a person that is called in the N.T. the new birth. After receiving this new birth the Holy Spirit comes to take up permanent residence in your heart. He then begins to work on you molding you into the image of Christ. Look at what Jesus said to the disciples...

Tuesday, 29th August 2017: Your destiny helpers will be kept at work by divine conviction! â€

But I tell you the truth: it is to your advantage that I am leaving; for if I do not leave, the Helper will not come to you; but if I go, I will send Him to you.  And He, when He comes, will convict the world regarding sin, and righteousness, and judgment:

(John 16:7-8)

Jesus tells the disciples it is for their advantage that He leaves and the Holy Spirit comes. This fact is evidenced by the convicting, teaching, and overall guiding power of the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit is called by Christ here the helper. This begs the question, the helper of what? He convicts! It is the Holy Spirit that shows an individual their own sinfulness, and reveals to them how unworthy they are of forgives, but how merciful God is in granting it. Just as this passage is saying we would not know how evil sin is, how righteous Christ is, or how worthy Satan is for judgment, and how we have followed his rebellion and are as worthy to be judged ourselves. Only the Holy Spirit can make a person stop, examine their life and see that they are on a sinking ship and the only one that can rescue them is Christ. Paul also gives a warning regarding the presence of the Holy Spirit in a person's life, he says in (Romans 8:9) However, you are not in the flesh but in the Spirit, if indeed the Spirit of God dwells in you. But if anyone does not have the Spirit of Christ, he does not belong to Him. Let us be thankful for the convicting power of the Holy Spirit.
