When God Says NO

One of the hardest things to deal with as a Christian is when God says no. Have you ever experienced that? You are going along doing what you feel God wants you to do with your life and expecting God to make clear every path and then, you come across a shut door. So you ask God to open it, after all shouldn't God give us what we need? The problem lies in that very question! God provides our needs not our wants and we sometimes get those confused. God knows what we need in spite of our limited view of the present circumstances we find ourselves in today. In other words God knows what we will need tomorrow and we don't. We see a picture of this in scripture....

And lest I should be exalted above measure through the abundance of the revelations, there was given to me a thorn in the flesh, the messenger of Satan to buffet me, lest I should be exalted above measure. For this thing I besought the Lord thrice, that it might depart from me. And he said unto me, My grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness. Most gladly therefore will I rather glory in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me.

(2 Corinthians 12:7-9)

Paul had a need, or so he thought. Paul's thinking was....If I could get rid of this problem imagine how much more effective I could be for the purpose God has called me to. Apparently, God didn't see things this way because He replied no. God through His infinite wisdom saw something Paul could not see and this caused God's response to be for Paul's future benefit and not for his current circumstance. As a matter of fact what God was saying is " I am in control just trust me." Do you trust Him? Even when things don't go the way you want them to. God delights in giving you grace through exercising your faith. When your faith is right, then you can flow with a no, and not be devastated by trying to force a yes from God.
