The Man on the Cross

The Bible teaches us that the ultimate act of love is sacrifice, and that is just what Jesus did. Jesus was a perfect man who did not know the effects of sin, or the depth of separation, until He was hanging on the cross. Why did He do this? He was seated in heaven, the object of worship among the heavenly host, yet chose to come to earth and live among us with the purpose of being crucified. He was driven by His love for you and I. Although, He was God in the flesh, He was also a man for all intents and purposes so that He could experience and overcome temptation and sin. He had to do this to be the perfect sacrifice that was required by the law of God to make atonement for sin.

For we have not an high priest which cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmities; but was in all points tempted like as we are, yet without sin.

(Hebrews 4:15)

When I look at the man on the cross I see a savior. He is my Lord and my God. His life, death, and resurrection, means that I don't have to suffer the result of sin which the bible says is death, this is speaking spiritually of course. I have faith in Jesus and have made him my Lord, I accept what He did to reconcile me to God. Jesus Christ repaired the bridge of relationship to God that had been damaged by the curse of sin in the garden of Eden by Adam and Eve. His resurrection means that by faith, one day I too will be resurrected to a new life in Him for all eternity. I thank God for Calvary, but I praise and worship Jesus Christ, the man who was on the cross, but now is at the right hand of the Father preparing a place for you and I to reside one glorious day.
