Unfriending Christ

Where does Jesus Christ fit into your personal life? Is He at the top, being the most important thing to you, or does He just fit in wherever, and whenever, you find a place or time for Him? For a Christian this answer should be clear and easy, but sadly many would not place HIm in the proper position in their life. I am not talking about going to church. I know many would be turned off by what I am saying here but before you do, STOP, and READ. Going to church is Biblical (Hebrews 10:25), to be in obedience to the word of God we should go but that is not what this blog is about. The late C.H. Spurgeon once said, "If you have pushed the Lord Jesus Christ out of the first place,he will occupy no other, and therefore you have unChristed Him, and you are guilty of His blood." This is speaking to the unsaved and saved, and we should have ears to hear what the spirit says. To the unsaved He says take me all in all, come to a fountian of life that never runs dry. He will give eternal life when you take Him and make Him Lord and surrender your will and sprit to Him. To the saved He says, am I in the right place in your life? Jesus when addressing the church of Ephesus with a warning, He says that they had left their first love, Him. Have you unfriended Jesus?

My answer to this is if you don't have Him first in your life, He is not happy with anything else. Notice I didn't say you don't have Him at all, because you have Him you just pull Him off the shelf when you need Him. How many of us have friends like that, when they need us they are blowing our phones up coming to see us, but as soon as they get what they need, no more phone calls and no more knocks on the door or dinner reservations. We treat Jesus the same way, when we are in trouble, or if we really want something we draw as close as we can to Jesus, start reading our Bibles, going to church, maybe even praying, but when things settle down and we get what we needed, or wanted, back on the shelf He goes. Just like with Facebook when you are doing something you don't want a particular person to know about you block, or unfriend them. How many of us have blocked or unfriended Jesus because we are doing things that we know He would not approve of in our lives? In order for Jesus to be your Lord He has to be first in your life, above everything else, spouse, children, family, friends, work, recreation, and anything else that competes for you thoughts and time. Anything that you put before Jesus is your God according to scripture, listen to what God said to the Israelites in the old testament which rings true for us to day as well....
